October 2nd, 2005: At the recommendation of Major Ernest Parker of OCAR, James McEachin returns to service as an Army Reserve Ambassador for the United States Army Reserves. Known for his appearances and speeches on behalf of the military and various Veterans' groups, the actor/author's  nomination came from Major General Robert Ostenberg of the 63rd Regional Readiness Command and appointment by Lieutenant General James R. Helmly of Washington DC. The position is a three-year term and carries a protocol rank of 2-star General.

August 18th, 2005: California Congressman David Dreier awards McEachin medals of valor for acts of gallantry and heroism performed in the Korean War. The awards include the esteemed Silver Star and Purple Heart. McEachin sustained multiple wounds in combat and served in the military for a period of six years.
